mod 3 tasks- copyright

After having a look at the different aspects of copyright that apply to making websites, i have to answer the following questions.... I have also checked out the copyright document on the Curtin university web-page.
1.Have you used images or words on your web page or website that contravene copyright laws?
My web-page was a first try on creating a html. document. I followed the instructions from a website given to me as part of the course work. I did not copy anything that I wasn't told to. I was told to copy a picture and use, and therefore i did just that. even though normally a picture on a website would be copyright, here i was told out-right to copy it and use it as part of the learning experience, therefore if it would be normally copyright, here there was written permission and instruction to so just so.
2.Would you be in breach of copyright if you put the Curtin logo at the top of your web page for an assignment?
I think the answer to this would be yes. After exploring the copyright page of the curtin website, i have understood that to copy something as an image would need payment and permission before doing so. but i am not 100% sure of my answer as this would not be for public use, or for gain of money or anything like that. it would just be to enhance the work that i am doing at the Curtin college. The work that i would be doing would just be for the purpose of the work and would have no further need or use after the work would be completed. Therefore i think that it wouldn't be strictly under the copyright laws. If i was in such a position i would write to Curtin and i am almost sure i would get the allowence in writting without any problem.
