I first notices the massive differences in the amount of results. At first i thought it would show that copermic woulg give me more about the answer to my search, but then i found that i still like the results of google better.

Now after reading through the Boolean Searching link, i have realised that i have not really searched in the best possible way. Written a search like i have would get me the most results. if i wanted to be sure i would get the information i want i think i should add a NOT. Something like Recipe of rye bread Not other flours. If i want the information to come from university source then i should specify something like 'from ------- sites.'

Now i have to choose the best three sources and find out some information about them:

Mod 3 Tasks- Web 2.0

I did the following:
"Take a look at the Internet Communications Blinklist we have set up for you as a bookmark site - compared to a html version think about the format and usability of a website/html written list with this same information."

I have found that there was major difference between the two. The first one was intresting to look at and kept your attention to fully utlise the potential of the site. In the second one, i found it hard to read past the first line. I like the first way much better and i think that most people now-a-days would feel the same way. Even though it takes longer to search though the first one as each link takes up more space. a person who just wants a quick find, would just read the first line till one catches his attention. The second one, would appeal to most older people who just want the real facts and not all the 'dazzel' beforhand. But i still feel that the use of colour makes it easy on the eye, and the use of pictures, which gives so much infomation at a glance and saves so much time, makes the fist option a much better way to find information.

Mod 3 tasks- Blogging

In this entry i have to reflect about my experiences and thoughts regarding blogs and blogging. I have been very impressed with the wide use of blogging, esp. as i did not know that it even existed before i created this one, during one of the first tasks that i completed. I have found that people use it as a wonderful way for multi-communication regarding holidays, that keeps everyone infomed of their going ons. I have also found that people use it as a diary and as a form of reflection and achievmemt journal. I think that it is mainly due to its set out that people feel comfortable spending a few minutes after working hard to write down what they have achieved and how, their mistakes, and anything they can learn from their days work. I think it is a wonderful program and has many amazing uses.

mod 3 tasks- copyright

After having a look at the different aspects of copyright that apply to making websites, i have to answer the following questions.... I have also checked out the copyright document on the Curtin university web-page.
1.Have you used images or words on your web page or website that contravene copyright laws?
My web-page was a first try on creating a html. document. I followed the instructions from a website given to me as part of the course work. I did not copy anything that I wasn't told to. I was told to copy a picture and use, and therefore i did just that. even though normally a picture on a website would be copyright, here i was told out-right to copy it and use it as part of the learning experience, therefore if it would be normally copyright, here there was written permission and instruction to so just so.
2.Would you be in breach of copyright if you put the Curtin logo at the top of your web page for an assignment?
I think the answer to this would be yes. After exploring the copyright page of the curtin website, i have understood that to copy something as an image would need payment and permission before doing so. but i am not 100% sure of my answer as this would not be for public use, or for gain of money or anything like that. it would just be to enhance the work that i am doing at the Curtin college. The work that i would be doing would just be for the purpose of the work and would have no further need or use after the work would be completed. Therefore i think that it wouldn't be strictly under the copyright laws. If i was in such a position i would write to Curtin and i am almost sure i would get the allowence in writting without any problem.

Mod Tasks 3- web page

I feel a great sense of achievement after completing my first page in html. I am a bit disappointed that I was unable to actually make it into a web page, and i hope to do it soon. i ran into complications, but since i am not at home, and working on my own computer, i am scared to fiddle around too much. I found that i liked blogging much better as it is alot easier to deal with and you cant make so many mistakes. it is also very similar to doing any normal things on the computer and working with a regular microsoft program. i still need to learn alot more about html, to be confident with using it.

Chat Task

I have realised how very far behind i am on this task so have posted a message to see if i could still arrange a group task............panicing slightly............................help!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Module 2 Tasks- Lists

Even after reading all the information the the unit provided about lists and newsgroups and the like, in the tasks section it gave me a link to 'How stuffs Work' which upon clicking on and reading, found it amazing helpful. it basically just put everything in short and easy to understand words. it also listed the pros and cons, which i found very usefully to fully understand what it is all about. I think that i will always use this tool if it is provided.

I had a look at the main group page and chose the topic of music, which has always been a point of interest to me. I had a look around for a bit. i feel that it is very useful if one wants a very wide picture of a topic, but to get an answer for a particular question who be very hard to find, and if you post the question, you have no guarantees that you are going to get an answer. if you want an answer immediately, then a simple email is the best choice, provived that you get answered.

Discussions boards are good if you dont need an answer straight away, and you want to communicate with people who have interest in the smae areas as you do. but lists are good it you want constant upgrades on a certain topic, rather then searching for information yourself.

Module 2 Tasks-email

For this task I had to answer the following questons, i am not sure if i am answering correctly, but i will do my best.

1.What information about a user's email, the origin of a message, and the path it took, can you glean from an email message?
When one recieves an email from someone else, just by looking at the peices of information that get sent to you about the sender, allow you to know quite a few points about the sender and his methods. Firstly, by reading his address you are able to know which server he is using for hie email, for example, yahoo, gmail or if it is from home-based email. You can sometime also know where it is coming from if it has 'au' at the end then you know it is from Australia. You can also find out the senders domain name.

2.In what cases would you find it useful to use the 'cc', 'bcc' and 'reply all functions of email?
I would use the 'cc' button when i want to send the same infomation to people who know each other and who need the same information, the 'bcc' button when i want to send the same information to different people but i dont want each reciepient to know that the same email has been sent to someone else or to whom, and i would use the 'reply all' function, only if it was nesessary, as using this function could lead to mistakes, and so i generally just reply to the person who sent me the email.

3.In what ways can you ensure that an attachment you send will be easily opened by the receiver?
To ensure that the reciever will be able to access the attachment that i am sending, i would either ask them if they have have the required software, or i would send it in plain or rich text format.

4.What sorts of filters or rules do you have set up, and for what purpose?
I file my emails according to the topics, and then further into names. For example: school friends, business matters etc. Then all the extras are dealt with seperately.

5.How have you organised the folder structure of your email and why?
I have set up the folders by topics as i have not yet opened up or buisness, that i have an extremely large amount of emails being sent to me. So the only files i need to make are in topics, rather then in client names etc.
